IC 417 Nebula on 2025-12-18,19,20 - The Spider and Fly Nebulae
IC 417, also named NGC 1931 - The Spider and Fly nebulae, are located approximately 10,000 and 7,000 light-years respectively from the Earth in the constellation Auriga. These two nebulae are composed of massive clouds of gas and dust and are sites of new stellar birth. The large nebula on the left side of my image is the Spider nebula and the small, dark red, nebula on the right is the Fly. The two bright stars in the Spider are foreground objects and not part of the Spider nebula. The brightest star, of the two bright stars, is designated Phi Aurigae and is only about 450 light years from the Earth. This photo was taken in Kyle, Texas through a 6-inch f/4 Telescope, on a ZWO AM5 Mount mount, with a ZWO ASI533MC PRO color camera plus a dual-band Ha-O III filter. The processing was done in PixInsight. The total image acquisition time is: 10 hours 30 minutes 00 Seconds.
